Emily & Mauri’s Tiny Boxwoods

For Emily and Mauri, it all began in the hall of middle school. And while life took them in different directions, they always maintained a connection. After messaging on and off through social media for several years, a long-distance relationship blossomed with Mauri in Brazil and Emily in Houston. Despite busy jobs and thousands of miles in distance, Facetime calls and visits only deepened their connection! 

Mauri proposed in the lush beauty of Houston’s Centennial Gardens. Emily recounts that, “We got to a little trail where we were alone, and he pulled me around and starting saying sweet things and hugging and kissing me and then he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him!”

For their engagement portraits, Emily knew Tiny Boxwoods would be the perfect backdrop for a portion of their session. The nursery’s greenery, cozy outdoor vibe, and the comforting charm of one of her favorite places in Houston felt like the ideal place to celebrate their story! Afterwards, we went to the Arboretum to capture a few more portraits along the trails while the sunset.
