A husband and wife wedding photography duo

KENDALL
Nate’s first introduction into the world of photography was selling digital cameras at Best Buy as a teenager. Enthralled with both the art and technical advances of digital photography, Nate began to develop a talent for capturing the energy and joy of life with a camera. Whether on his many excursions around the world or simply hanging out with friends, a camera was always by his side. As Nate’s passion for capturing portraits grew he captured a couple of weddings for family members and was officially hooked. After a chance meeting with Alex before she left to live overseas in 2008, Alex encouraged Nate to take his interest in photography to the next level. He launched Nate Messarra Photography in 2010 and has since captured over 300 weddings across the United States and internationally.
When not using a camera or editing photos, Nate enjoys making his favorite foods (salsa and guacamole), experimenting with custom cocktail creations, planning trips, and obsessing about his yard (when did he get so old?!).
With a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Theology, Alex never would have imagined she would become a professional photographer. While living overseas, however, Alex felt an intense desire to capture the beauty, vistas and exciting cultures around her. She was gifted a camera for her 24th birthday and began to create films and albums from her many adventures. After meeting and falling in love with Nate, photography became a shared passion between them. Alex brings an eye for detail, a love for candid moments, and an eagerness to experiment into her photographs.
When not running a lot of the photography business behind-the-scenes, Alex loves music (and spent over 8 years of her life in choral ensembles), taking walks along Buffalo Bayou, cooking, and traveling (the longer the plane ride the better).
Frequently Asked Questions
Will you travel to capture our wedding?
Yes, please! While the majority of the weddings we capture each year are within a two hour drive of Houston, each year we look forward to capturing a handful of weddings in other wonderful places. We’ve had the pleasure of traveling to more than 25 countries and have captured weddings on the white sand beaches of Key West, high up in the Rocky Mountains mountains, on the coast of Greece’s Aegean Sea and many places in between.
When will my wedding photos and films be delivered? And in what format?
Nate typically spends 30-40 hours individually processing each image from a wedding day. Wedding galleries are typically delivered within 2-3 months of your wedding day. All galleries will contain high-resolution jpeg images that can be downloaded from your gallery and delivered on a USB drive.
How long have you been capturing weddings?
Wedding photography has been our full time career since 2012.
What’s your favorite part of a wedding day?
This is a difficult question… but our favorite part of a wedding day is capturing a diverse collection of couples portraits. We aim to deliver at least 100 couples portraits captured at different times and places throughout the day (indoors, outdoors, sunset portraits, etc). It makes us sad to think that some couples might only receive a handful of photos of just the two of them together.
Why should I hire your team for photo and video?
When you hire our photography and videography team to capture your wedding we are able to provide a seamless, high-quality experience. With years of capturing weddings as a team, we are able to communicate effectively throughout the planning and wedding day. And perhaps most importantly, we are able to provide each other with fresh ideas and creative collaboration for images and films you will treasure for decades to come.
Can you help create a great wedding timeline?
Absolutely! The last thing we want is for our couples to feel stressed about the timeline on their wedding day and not have the proper time allotment for capturing great photos. We will work with you to craft a stress-free timeline that builds in buffer in the right places.
What happens if….?
Planning for “worst-case” scenarios is part of our job. What if we get sick? What if our house burns down? What if? What if? We have a lot back up plans and “worst-case” scenarios for any given situation. Plus, creative problem-solving is one of our favorite parts of any wedding.
Can you provide my venue with a Certificate of Insurance?
Absolutely!
Can I see your wedding work from a wedding day that has a similar venue or lighting environment to mine?
When choosing a wedding photographer, we highly recommend viewing a wedding day that has a similar venue or lighting condition to the day that you are planning. A church ceremony will look different than an outdoor ceremony. During our initial consultation we’ll aim to understand the overall vision of your wedding day and send you some of our work that has a similar lighting and spaces to the wedding that you are planning.
Are there any additional fees we should know about?
We are required to charge an additional Texas Sales Tax rate of 8.25% on all services and products. We absolutely hate extra invoicing and try to be as all-inclusive and transparent as possible. Common additional add-on items are wall art, additional album pages, and travel fees outside of the greater Houston area.
