Is a bridal portrait session right for you?

You may or may not be familiar with a “bridal portrait session” and that’s okay!   A bridal portrait session is about creating diverse collection of portraits of the bride in her dress 1-2 months before the wedding day.  To figure out whether a bridal portrait session makes sense for you, here are the three reasons why about half of our brides choose a bridal portrait session…

1. Displaying Bridal Portraits at your Wedding Reception

Especially in the South, it’s a common wedding tradition to display portraits of the bride in her dress at the wedding reception.  If displaying a bridal portraits at your reception is something you (or your mom) would like, the way make this tradition happen is through a bridal portrait session!

2. Creating A Diverse Collection of Bridal Portraits

Within the constraints of a wedding day timeline, it’s usually only possible to capture a few portraits of just the bride in her wedding dress. Some brides have been dreaming about one day becoming a bride since they were little. Then they go through the whole process of searching for and purchasing the perfect dress. Then after ALL that the thought of only having a few bridal portraits makes you sad, then scheduling a bridal session probably make sense for you.

3. A Trial Run For All The Bridal Details

One of our favorite things about a bridal session is that it can serve as a trial run for all your your bridal elements: dress fit, hair, makeup, bouquet, shoes, veil, and jewelry.  Having this trial run can help eliminate stress and ensure that you look and feel your best when the time comes to walk down the aisle. And if you discover any detail isn’t quite right during the session, you’ll have the chance to make adjustments prior to your wedding day.

Did you know that…

  • your wedding venue will (likely) allow you to capture bridal portraits in their space at no additional cost?
  • your hair and makeup team (likely) already includes a pre-wedding day trail that you could schedule on the same day as your bridal portrait session?
  • many mom’s treasure having a bridal portrait of their daughter to feature on the walls of their home?
  • Included with your bridal portrait session is a $100 credit toward featuring at least one of your favorite bridal portraits in  ready-to-hang wall art.

On the other hand, it may not make sense for you to schedule a bridal portrait session if:

  • You will be happy with just the few bridal portraits that we are able capture on your wedding day.
  • We’ve heard some brides express that it feels weird for all the focus to be on them and so you may instead prefer to display some engagement portraits of the both of you together at your wedding reception.
  • You are overwhelmed with the process of scheduling a bridal session with your venue, your photographer, your hair and makeup team, confirming dress alterations are complete, arranging for a bouquet with your florist, and potentially taking half a day off of work.
  • Bridal Portraits aren’t a high priority and you would rather allocate your wedding budget elsewhere.
